Hey there, I´m Lauren. Milspouse, entrepreneur, and consultant.
Hey friends.
My name is Lauren Lomsdale and I am a military spouse (Marine Corps) of 13 years, mother of three girls, avid dog lover and fitness junkie, entrepreneuar, web designer, and online business consultant.
I know how hard it can be to find a stable, lucrative career as a military spouse. As the spouse of an active duty service member, we often take a back seat to the military. Our careers, our personal life, and our mental health all take a hit from this stressful lifestyle.
About 10 years ago, I decided that I wasn’t going to let the military take away my identity as a person. I knew I wanted to work and contribute financially to our family. But with my Master’s in Education, I knew that would mean little pay for alot of work, time out of the house away from my babies, and having to start over every time we PCS’d with classes, courses, licenses and whatever else the new state required me to teach there. Basically, it wasn’t worth it.
During my husband’s first deployment, I was a nanny in New York City for a woman named Alexia Brue. She was just starting this website, Well+Good (which is insanely popular with celebrity guests now) and I thought to myself, “How amazing that she gets to work from home, with her kids around, all remotely.” That is when I started to think that I could find something like that for myself.
I started off small- I was a freelance writer for several publications, sometimes for free. I ran my own preschool from home for a couple years while my babies were toddlers and preschoolers. Over the years I worked for several online publications, learning skills in professional editing, copywriting, photography, and web design.
Through my experiences I also learned the nuances of running an online business. Team management. Leadership. Organizational skills. Email marketing and design. E-commerce. And so much more.
Over the past 10 years I have self-taught myself skills in all different platforms for a variety of businesses. And as I sit here today, I can tell you this:
- I work from home (or Starbucks or the beach or wherever there is wifi).
- My career is PCS friendly.
- I take days, weeks, months off when I want to.
- I am in control of my career.
- I make almost double what I would be making as a new teacher (which I would be every time we moved).
- I can be there every time my kids are sick, have an appointment, have a class field trip or party, or for every after-school event.
- My kids haven’t spent a single day in daycare.
- I absolutley love what I do.
- I now employ several other military spouses, helping them work remotely as virtual assistants.
My goal is to help military spouses like you create or find careers that are PCS-friednly, fun, enjoyable, and remote.
Military spouses are one of the most underemployed demographics. But with my Work from Home Milspo courses, you can gain the skillset to create a highly marketable career as a virtual assistant or a webs designer.

My Story
WHERE IT ALL BEGAN AND HOW IT’S GOING NOW

2010: Brand new Marine spouse
My husband and I were married in 2010. A few months later, he deployed and I lived in NYC where I met Alexia Brue, owner of Well+Good. She inspired me to create a business, working from home.

2010 - 2020: I freelance
I freelanced for about 10 years, including writing for Military Spouse Magazine, Mothering, Military Families Magazine, and Daily Mom.
During this time I become the managing editor of Daily Mom Military and later, the digital editor of Military Families Magazine.

2020: I land my dream job
Or so I thought. Within a year of what I thought was my dream job, I found myself fired, unjustly, for a decision that was made in conjunction with my superior editors. I was devastated and thought I would never find something like this again.

2021: I start doing web design and other VA work.
One of my friends asked me if I would be interested in working for a new business she was managing. Here I started diving into web design and other virtual assitant work.

2022: I start Aura Digital Consulting
I decide to start taking clients, slowly in February of 2022. My business takes off, rapidly, allowing me to take on 3 additional virtual assistants.

September 2022: I launch The WFH Milspo Courses
By September of 2022, I launched the first of my WFH Milspo courses, The Basics. We have since broken those down into Mini Courses and will be offering Advanced Courses in 2023!
2023 & BEYOND
In addition to growing my business over at Aura Digital Consulting, I will be offering Advanced Courses with my WFH Milspo series as well as group coaching for students who would like a structured timeline while they take this course.
